Russia may become technologically independent in 10–20 years

MOSCOW, Jun 27 (PRIME) -- Russia may achieve technological sovereignty in 10–20 years, if it creates Diamond Fund from several dozens of its own developments, Special Presidential Representative for Digital Development Dmitry Peskov said in an interview to PRIME on Monday.

“If we speak about a realistic task of technological sovereignty, it looks like this -- we can create 30–50 our own cutting edge technologies in 10–20 years, and they will become showpieces for our Diamond Technology Fund,” he said.

“They will ensure our food, security, medicine, and connectivity in the country in case of a cataclysm.”

The Diamond Fund should hold the technologies that only Russia has, ensuring its technological superiority, or the technologies that only three to five other countries of the world have, ensuring technological parity. It should be expanded continuously through constant addition of new technologies, he said.
